Indo-Persian shield with ornately etched decorations showing traces of gold and silver damascened decoration, fighting and hunting scenes with prayers or writings around border. Circa 19th century. Measures 19 ¼”across center. Very good condition. Along with matching helmet and arm defense. The ornamentation and workmanship is of very good quality and superior to most Indian armor in the later period. Also shows prayers aroundthe rim of the helmet or inscriptions. A quality 3 piece garniture seldom found. Collected pre 1900 by family of Dr. Leon A. Dale. ESt.: $750-$1500
